Dear Sonia Meade,
I wrote ELLA ENCHANTED many years ago, but I think Ella was uncomfortable with the power to command that would go with being a princess.
Thanks for writing to me!
Gail
Dear Ms. Levine,
I've always wondered, why does Ella not take the title of princess?

The Two Princesses of Bamarre was my favorite book as a kid, ever since picking it up at the Scholastic book fair the year it came out. I just reread it again at age 30…the impact has stayed and even increased with time. I’ve always been Addie, overcoming dragons and specters and my own fears, now able to enjoy the peace my fortitude has built. Thank you for depicting the many facets of everything: women can be strong and resilient and delicate and decorous, goodbyes can be both happy and sad, unaccomplished goals are a redirect, not a failure, and even a dragon can deserve to be mourned. The story is truly a gift and I can’t wait to read it to my children.

I am currently working on writing, for my own enjoyment, a mashup of as many European fairytales as I can figure out how to mash together. I was wondering where on earth I got the inspiration to have my Rapunzel character like Parsley, and I finally remembered "For Biddle's Sake" and the rest of the Princess Tales, and in doing more research, learned about Puddocky and also your website.
I've loved your books for quite some time, to the point that I'm using the Spanish translation of Ella Enchanted (El Mundo Encantado de Ela!) as a way to practice my Spanish for use in day-to-day life. It works because I've read it enough times that, reading the Spanish, I can call to mind many of the English sentences, word for word.
How exciting to discover that you've written little comments for all your books! I spent a lot of time reading all of them. I never would have guessed that the Two Princess of Bamarre was originally the Twelve Dancing Princesses.
I'm positive that you're a huge reason that I'm curious about tales and legends and myths, as well as in retelling them. I've tried my hand at a few of the tales you've told, but none of my projects were quite worth sharing with the world. I'm hoping that the batch I'm currently working on, Tales from the Merry Circle, will be the ones that are worth it. Thanks for pushing me in that direction, however indirectly!
Hello! I’ve never done this before, but I’ve been a silent fan of your books ever since I was a kid and I just wanted to let you know how much I adore your writing. I’m currently 20 and rereading The Two Princesses of Bamarre (one of my favorite books ever) and it’s just as wonderful as when I first read it. You are such an inspiration to me. I can only dream of writing anything that can impact someone as much as your stories have impacted me. I wish you all the best and thank you again for all the magical adventures!
