David took these photos during a day's filming at Powerscourt Estate, site of the highest waterfall in Ireland. He and I were allowed by the producers to observe for three days. You probably know, but I didn't, that movie scenes are shot out of order and over and over again.
We loved watching Anne Hathaway. The director, Tommy O'Haver, would tell her to read a line the slightest bit differently, and she would. Then he'd ask her to try it another way, close to what she'd just done but not quite, and she would. Again and again, and she always came through.
We were told that if a single minute of usable film resulted from a day's work, it was a good day. Probably some of the people on the set were bored, but we weren't. We would have been happy to continue gawking to the end
