Dear Gail,

Hi, I'm a 23 girl from Spain. Tinkerbell was my childhood and I loved the Tinkerbell books (even though I still haven't been able to read all of them as many never arrived here I believe). For a couple of years I've been on a 'quest' trying to find them. Thank you for the magic you created.

Sincerely,
Lourdes

Dear Gail,

At 28, two of my favorite books are still Ella Enchanted and Two Princesses of Bamarre. They've traveled with me to multiple apartments, through breakups, through moments joy and moments of not knowing how to proceed. I reread them annually, and smile when I remember I wrote my name multiple times in the books as a kid. It's hard to say just how meaningful they are to me—not only were they essential feminist works in my upbringing and inspired in me a love of fantasy and individuality—but they've continued to be sources of remarkably imaginative comfort and ingenuity and will be for years to come. I'm working on sending the word out for my own fantasy novel (eek!) and it's in large part thanks to you. I'm in awe of your imagination and always inspired by your work! Thanks for all the happy reads and the rereads to come :)

Ms. Levine,

As a sixth-grader, I read Ella Enchanted and fell in love with it. I quite literally could not put it down. The imagery and the magic had me hooked from page one.

Now, I am 21, and I am an English major. After I graduate in one short semester, my plan is to get my MFA in creative writing. I am working diligently toward my dream of becoming an author, and I hope to see that dream come to fruition someday.

I want to thank you for igniting such a love for literature in me and showing me how writing can unlock worlds I would have never dreamed of.

Very sincerely,
Katie Pennington

Dear Ms. Levine
I recently re-read your book, Ella Enchanted. I had read it a few years ago, but didn’t really understand it. I read it again and loved it. I am interested in riding too. I am starting to write a story about a young boy who travels to an old castle. I want to base it on when I visited the Biltmore in North Carolina.

By the way, my name is Beatrice. I am 10 years old. I have also read your Princess Tales books, and your fairy story books. I loved how extremely clever and witty the princess tales were. How do you make such great characters? For example, I loved Arieda, but how did you come up with her? Your book really made me feel sad, (when her mother died) angry,(when Hattie stole her necklace) and happy, (when she took Hattie’s wig.

Thank you for your books. I love them so much.
- Beatrice

P.s. My mom wrote to you as a kid, and still has your letter.

Dear Gail,
So happy I found this page to post to. I’m writing because Ella Enchanted was my very favorite book growing up (I’m now 36!) and for my birthday one year my god father got me a signed copy of your book (signed “ Don’t be too obedient!”) I had saved it all of these years to read to my girls as they get older. Unfortunately I lost it in the flood that occurred last month. I’m hoping to recover this lost treasure. Please let me know if this is possible somehow, or maybe you’ll be traveling in the northeast soon! Thank you -Erin
