PS- you know the friend Jenna Royal referred to on your blog? That's me- Jenna Royal is my best friend:). I finished my NaNoWriMo novel last week. I read your blog every time you post and I learn a lot from it- and also your books- about writing. Thank you so so very much. You've really encouraged me.

Dear Gail,

I just wanted to let you know what a large part of my development as a reader and writer you have been. When I was maybe 9 or 10, I picked up Ella Enchanted, and ever since then I've been such a huge fan of your work. My favorites by far are Fairest and Ella Enchanted, but The Two Princesses of Bamarre is a definite close runner.

I'm 21 now and working on finishing my undergraduate degree in English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing, and your books' influence on me is certainly a big reason I am where I am. The first things I ever tried to write were extensions of your stories as fanfiction.

I'm taking a class on Publishing right now, and we are required to contact writers we would be interesting in establishing literary relationships with. I instantly thought of you. Your book Writing Magic was immensely helpful, and I follow your blog closely. All I can say is thank you! You are an inspiration.

I'd love to hear back from you, if you've got the time. I definitely understand the impulse to write all the time though, so I will understand if you can't.

Sincerely,

Rebecca

Hi Gail!
I am an avid reader. I read everything I can get my hands on. When I was little my dad use to read me everything from The Hobbit to Little House on the Prairie. I remember that my favourite book to read was Watership Down. At least, it was my favourite until I read the book The Two Princesses of Bamarre. I can still remember the first time I saw it in the store. I had to have it that day and it quickly became my new favourite book. I read it over and over again. Now, ten years later, it is still my very favourite book to read. I can still sit down and read it over and over again without getting bored or tired of it. I even own it on audio tape and listen to it in my car when I am driving. (I alternate between it and Ella Enchanted). Anyhow, I know you said that you don't always respond but I was wondering if you were going to be showing up in or around the Tulsa aria any time soon? I have always wanted to meet you and I would absolutely love it if you would autograph my copy of The Two princesses of Bamarre. If you're not going to be anywhere near Tulsa in the near future is there any way for me to send you the book to sign? It would be such an honour.
Thank you for reading my ridiculously long post. I hope I didn't take up too much of your time. Have a very nice day and hope to hear from you soon!
